John Wayne Airport (SNA), CA, has installed AirEL’s illuminated identification numbers for on-field operations vehicles to increase their visibility and improve safety for crews working on its runway. The new vehicle markings, which use electro-luminescent technology to light up, can be easily seen from a distance of up to 1,000 ft. The illuminated signage was originally developed by AirEL for police operations to easily identify squad cars at night. Besides John Wayne Airport, Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport is using the illuminated signage on top of airport police vehicles and the sides of airport operation trucks. Additionally, Reno-Tahoe International Airport and Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport are using the illuminated signs on snow removal equipment.
