L3 received order or 24 MV3D Hold Baggage Explosives Detection Systems for Istanbul New Airport
11 May 2017
L3 Security and Detection Systems (L3 SDS) has received an order for 24 MV3D Hold Baggage Explosives Detection Systems (EDS) for Istanbul New Airport in Turkey. Scheduled to begin operations in Q1 2018, Istanbul New Airport will host 2,000 flights per day, catering for 90 million passengers per year. The capacity will be further increased to 200 million passengers by 2030. L3’s MV3D was designed to provide a high level of detection performance without the use of a rotating gantry. The system utilises a series of fixed X-ray sources and multiple detector arrays to create high-resolution 2D and 3D images. It generates the throughput and image quality of previous European Union (EU) Standard 2 systems, while providing the detection performance required of EU Standard 3 Approved and TSA Certified systems. -- With the Istanbul order, L-3 has now deployed more than 40 MV3D systems throughout Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
