Aéroports de Lyon awards BHS contract to ALSTEF

As part of the construction of the Future Terminal 1 (T1) at Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport in France, ALSTEF has been awarded the contract for the installation and maintenance of the baggage handling system by airport operator, Aéroports de Lyon. This EUR 14 million contract is the largest equipment contract awarded by Aéroports de Lyon for the Future T1, and one of the biggest equipment contracts in France over the last two years. ALSTEF will be responsible for the design, installation, and maintenance of all equipment related to baggage handling including check-in, baggage screening with Standard 3 machines, automatic baggage sorting at departures and baggage delivery at arrivals. The work will be carried out in two phases: in the current phase to 2016, the majority of the system will be installed comprising check-in, screening and automated baggage sorting to departure carousels, as well as arrival carousels in the Future T1 outside the sorter. In 2017, the second phase will consist of installing additional check-in counters in the existing T1. These will be linked to the baggage sorting system at the New T1. A high-speed cross-belt automated sorter manufactured by SELEX will also be installed. This contract includes a 10-year operation and maintenance (O&M) contract, not only for the baggage sorting system to be supplied for the Future T1, but also for all baggage sorting systems of the airport.
