Safegate introduces SafeControl–Apron Management
09 November 2012
To maximize safety and efficiency on the apron, Sweden’s Safegate Group has developed a new software concept, SafeControl–Apron Management. The origin of this new concept is Safegate’s Gate Operating System (GOS), built on a new platform to enhance integration and data sharing capabilities. SafeControl–Apron Management in effect uses Safedock Advanced Visual Docking Guidance Systems (A-VDGS) as intelligent sensors to collect and distribute real-time gate intelligence and accurate flight information between airport, airline and air traffic control systems, making it a natural part of CDM and A-SMCGS. Matching FIS data with real-time gate status and monitoring capabilities leads to minimized disturbances, interruptions or incidents at the apron and gate area. Gate equipment can be monitored and precise status known, meaning potential issues can be prevented and consequences such as delayed flights can be avoided. Over time, statistics generated from activity in the gate and apron areas become useful information the airport can use to further improve operations.
