Bridge Technology Inc. (BTI) of Phoenix, AZ, and IRIS GmbH Infrared & Intelligent Sensors (IRIS) of Berlin, Germany have announced their partnership in the airport ground transportation and security enhancement industry. Their jointly-developed system ‘bCounted’ provides solutions for automatic people counting (APC) in security-sensitive areas, and at any location where people move through portals. The bCounted system features highly accurate Infrared Motion Analyzer (IRMA) APC sensors inconspicuously mounted above the door or portal. A communication module captures the APC data, correlates it with location and time, and communicates the count data to a cloud-hosted back-end. The back-end produces customized reports and can be accessed anywhere in the world via a web portal. The bCounted system was first installed at the Sky Harbor International Airport’s SkyTrain in Phoenix, AZ, and went live in April 2013. Subsequent systems have been deployed at the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport’s SkyTrain in Atlanta, GA, and the Rail Link Station of the Liberty International Airport in Newark, NJ.
