Infraero purchases 45 desktop explosives trace detection systems from Morpho Detection
26 June 2013
Morpho Detection Inc. has announced that Infraero, Brazil’s national airport operator, has purchased 45 Itemiser® DX desktop explosives trace detection (ETD) systems. A lightweight, portable desktop system, Itemiser DX can detect residue from explosives on skin, clothing, parcels, bags, cargo, vehicles and other surfaces. Under terms of the contract, all systems will be deployed to airports in Brazil later in 2013 to support passenger and baggage screening efforts. During a recent trial closely supported by Proscan, Morpho Detection’s local partner, Itemiser DX underwent comprehensive testing and evaluation prior to being qualified by Infraero for use in Brazil. Looking to comply with global security regulations in advance of major events including the 2014 World Cup and 2016 Olympics in Brazil, Infraero chose Itemiser DX to replace legacy systems and help provide the highest level of security possible. -- First introduced in 2009, more than 3000 Itemiser DX units have been deployed to airport checkpoints, checked baggage and air cargo screening facilities, critical infrastructure and secure locations around the world.
